Steve Denecky

Steve was born in Naicam, Saskatchewan. He was raised on a farm and received his schooling in Coalhurst, Alberta. Steve studied his first year of Law at the University of British Columbia under the National Federation of Canadian University Students (NFCUS) Scholarship Exchange Program. He completed his Law degree at the University of Alberta and was admitted to the Bar in 1961. He is also fluent in Hungarian.
Steve has a comprehensive grasp of injury law, but also specializes in the areas of Wills and Estates, Agricultural Law, Expropriation, Administrative Boards, Real Estate and General Practice.
As a result of his dedication to his profession and to his community, Steve has been the recipient of many prestigious awards. Among these, he was awarded the Queen's Counsel in 1992. He was also awarded Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions International Foundation for dedicated Humanitarian Service. In 1984, he was awarded the Medal of Merit "for especially good service to Scouting". Steve has also argued 2 cases before the Supreme Court of Canada.
Steve is very active in the local community both as a professional and also as a volunteer. He is the Past President of the Lethbridge Bar Association, Past Chairman of Constitution and Bylaws of District 37C Lions International, Past President and current Director of the Lethbridge Lions Club, a Director of the Lethbridge United Church Extension Council and Past Regional Secretary of Boy Scouts of Canada.
